(A)LURE Restaurant - Alure (10) Burswood       jojo79 15-11-2008

Food:

The food was amazing, my friend and I shared the scallops and sushi to start with. Then I had the baby chicken for my main which was delicious. We could not fault the food at all. The wine we ordered was forgotten and the waitress took about 30 minutes to finally come and tell us that they didn't have the one we wanted and then eventually the wine came out halfway through our mains, and then I had to get up and get the bottle of wine from the bucket as the waitress never came back to top up our glasses.

Service:

Luckily the food was above standard because the service was well below a 5 star rating. The waitress took quite awhile to come and take our drink order, eventually we finally got our drinks and then it was spilt all over the table and myself. The food came out with no delay which was great.

Ambience:

nice view of the swimming pool.

Overall:
The food was way above standard but the service was definitely lacking. Very disappointed.

C Restaurant (24) Perth       Alicejames 15-11-2008

Food:

I ordered the rabbit dish and souffle, my partner ordered the raclette and lamb pasta dish. I found the souffle perfect in every way and the rabbit average. The presentation of the rabbit made eating the dish very difficult. It was served with prunes and carrot balls. This restaurant seems to have a running theme with food served in ball shapes. My partner found his raclette fairly average and the lamb pasta dish played a "where's the lamb" game with him. It was rather dry and uninspiring. We received a complimentary appetizer of squid and scallop served in plastic shot glasses. The scallop was divine, the squid less so.

Service:

Once seated, we received exemplary service. While waiting in the lounge for pre drinks we had to flag down 2 different servers before placing an order. We were repeatedly asked if we were 214 (we were 210) which was annoying since it interrupts a romantic night out.

Ambience:

Couldn't fault it. Lighting fantastic, low murmur of other diners, beautiful music softly wafting through. And then there was THAT view.

Overall:
Too pricey and too snobby, I resent being just a number. The food was definitely NOT worthy of a $300 experience.

Casa Del Amici (5) Canning Vale       Johnoh 14-11-2008

Food:

The food was amazing. it was generously portioned, and genuinely Italian and really fresh. We went in a group of nine, and were amazed at the quality of the food and service for the modest price. $23 dollars a person insured drinks (coke) a main meal and desserts (some of which were split between two people). The owner, Carlo makes you feel really comfortable and gives a really friendly feels to the place. I have been to Italy on a holiday, and can say this restaurant reminded me of a pizzaria I ate in, in San Morinio. I would recommend this place to anyone, its really worth it.

Service:

This service was really nice and friendly, and we only waited 20-25 minuets for our mains, and about 10 minuets for our deserts. It was very efficient, quick and really friendly

Ambience:

The place is really well designed. There is paintings, plants and very nice classical Italian music to set a friendly/romantic mood.

Overall:
Incredible experience, enjoyed it far more then any other dining experience, and perhaps the cheapest 5 star restaurant in all of WA

Secret Garden (The) (7) South Perth       gillg 14-11-2008

Food:

Breakfast menu- ordered lightly -the yogurt, muesli and fruit. Good muesli no added sugar and lots of goodies. Tiny serve of yogurt and milk, average fresh fruit. Woeful coffee- have never ever had a good one there.

Service:

Slow, although we were a pretty large group and it was busy with lots of other tables.

Ambience:

Nice in the garden on a nice day but the music was very loud where we were sitting.

Overall:
Very average, doubt I would go back.

Divido (13) Mt Hawthorn       stascat 14-11-2008

Food:

Simply delicious and decadent.
I started off with the beetroot, goats cheese and lentil salad. The beetroot tart, the lentils retained bite while absorbing dressing and the goats cheese smothered on the crostini added a creamy finish, a great combination.
For mains I went for the Mushroom Rotollo (like a pasta swiss roll) with crispy sage. The mushrooms where bursting with flavour and the pasta was soft but then also had some crunch from being in the wood fired oven - heavenly.
The boy had the octopus for entree and then the Swordfish. He enjoyed the octopus and said the swordfish was cooked to perfection and was very happy with his choice. We managed to share The River Cafe Chocolate Nemesis for dessert, simply sinful bliss.

Service:

Every person who came to our table knew their stuff. I asked Slav various questions and he answered everything without hesitation. Water was re-filled constantly, wine topped up and plates cleared efficiently. Superb.

Ambience:

Chilled out, great copper plate on the wall, chairs comfy. Love how they have done the lighting.

Overall:
There isn't too much to choose when it comes to vegetarian options so won't rush back, but will be making huge recommendations to anyone who will listen that this place is fantastic and deserves a visit. Book now you will not regret.

Millbrook Winery (7) Jarrahdale       buttfield 12-11-2008

Food:

We visited Millbrook for second time several weeks ago and again found it an enjoyable experience. We both had a fish main (my partner had the excellent "Seafood in a Bag") they and other courses were up the standard we usually enjoy in western suburbs restaurants. He drinks mainly red and selected the 2005 Millbrook Shiraz Viognier, noting it as a good choice.

Service:

Although on a Sunday with a full restaurant, including several large tables, the service was prompt and pleasant.

Ambience:

On our first visit, we had had window seating at the front (lake) side and even though placed on a side (window) table for the recent visit, it was still an extremely pleasant outlook. The noise level was not greatly intrusive to us.

Overall:
Millbrook is up with our more enjoyable restaurant experiences. Not overly cheap, but worth the money and within fairly easy striking distance of Perth. Definitely a nice change from Subiaco and western suburbs restaurants and much closer than Margaret River!
